   Erstens habe ich es vor zwei Wochen geschafft, Baby L. zu besuchen – sie ist einfach unwiderstehlich. Obwohl sie schon damals 4 Wochen alt war, hat sie trotzdem noch immer nicht laufen oder sprechen können. Ich wollte die neuen Eltern nicht beunruhigen, oiso habe ich nichts gesagt. Ich habe sie tatsächlich halten dürften – sie ist unterwegs in der Luft eingeschlafen . So ein süßes Kind.
   Zweitens, will ich das inzwischen altgewordenes Thema – was müssen die Partei führende machen um meine stimme zu verdienen – abschließen. Herr Gusenbauer, Partei Führer der SPÖ, muss nur den Vollkoffer, der meine Paketen liefern SOLLTE, kündigen, und mit einem halbwegs fähigen genossen ersetzen. Ja, ich habe schon wieder eine Nachricht von Amazon erhalten, dass sie eine Lieferung als nicht zustellbar zurückbekommen haben. Arsch. Mehr muss Gusenbauer nicht tun.
Nachdem die ÖVP nicht ausschließen will – jetzt offiziell, eine weitere Koalition mit der FPÖ einzugehen, kann der Bundeskanzler nur eines tun, um meine stimme zu verdienen, und zwar, gesagten Postler foltern. Da dies mir eher unwahrscheinlich scheint, empfehle ich Gusenbauer. Ich hätte nie gedacht, dass ich so was schreiben tät.

   So in den letzten zwei Wochen ist jede menge neues geschehen. Ich habe einen neuen Rechner gekauft – nichts besonders – Marktstandard halt, allerdings mit einem 19 Zoll TFT Monitor, und es wieder mal ein Genuss am Compi zu ‚spielen’. Schnell genug ist er auch, also es steht nichts mehr im weg einen Pulitzer Preis zu holen(außer LOFT)
   Noch wichtiger, ich habe eine neue Küchenmaschine gekauft, ein Kenwood Chef 316. Tres Cool. Ihre erste Aufgabe war Pancakes – Rezept unten. Falls wer noch das passende Weihnachtsgeschenk sucht, habe ich schon den Fleischwolf . Alle anderen Zubehör sind erwünscht.

   Die Firma Sony hat uns die absolut dümmste Aktion allezeit geliefert. Nervös das ihre Kunden illegale Kopien von ihren CDs machen würden, haben sie mittels ein Autostart Programm auf ihre CDs ein verstecktes Programm installiert(diese CDs kann man nur mit einem mitgelieferten CD Player spielen, und nur 3 Kopien machen). Nicht nur das Programm, sondern auch das so genanntes ‚RootKit’, was ermöglicht einem Programm völlig unsichtbar im System zu bleiben. Ein RootKit wird normalerweise mit einem Virus, oder Trojaner assoziiert, aber diesmal war Sony der Täter. Einer von den Jungs bei System Internals( wenn du je mit System Administration zu tun hattest, oder mit Menschen die mit System Administration zu tun haben, oder dich für solche ‚Geek’ Themen interessierst, dann wirst die den Namen schon erkennen, wenn nicht, dann schau kurz bei ihnen vorbei) war zufällig dabei, seinen RootKit Entdecker zu testen, und wunderte sich als er Sonys sah. Eine äußerst blöde Aktion von Sony. Schlimmer noch, das RootKit zu entfernen wird dein CDROM Laufwerk auch vom System entfernen. Und NOCH schlimmer, das RootKit von Sony versteckt nicht nur ihre eigene Raubkopie Überwachungssystem Dateien, sondern alle Dateien die mit $Sys$ beginnen. Und einige Trojaner Autoren haben das schon ausgenutzt. Und wenn das nicht schlecht genug war, angeblich hat Sony Open Source Software in ihrem Code verwendet, und die Lizenzierung dessen verletzt. Oje. Man fragt sich wie viele ehemalige Sony Mitarbeiter soeben ihre CV schreiben.

…..und gestern hat es geschneit in Wien

Firstly and foremost, I made it over to see baby L. 2 weeks ago. She is just the cutest, most irresistible creature on earth. Although she was already 4 weeks old back then, she hadn’t learned to walk or talk yet. I didn’t mention it to her parents; I didn’t want to worry them.

I even got to hold her – she fell asleep in the air between her father’s arms and mine She is such a sweetie.

Second, it’s time to close up that old subject ‘How can the party leaders earn my vote’. Mr. Gusenbauer, leader of the Social Democrats, only has to do one thing. Fire the useless asshole that’s supposed to deliver my parcels, and replace him with someone who actually DOES deliver my parcels. That’s right; the AnusWhoShallNotDeliver has done it once again. I got an email from Amazon telling me that my delivery had been returned as non-deliverable. Asshole.
On the same note, and given the fact that the Peoples Party have explicitly NOT excluded the possibility of forming a coalition with the FPÖ, the only thing our fearless leader, Wolfgang Schüssel can do to earn the vote, is apply some torture to said wannabe postman. Since that seems highly unlikely, I’ll be recommending Mr. Gusenbauer. Never thought I’d be saying that…
Anyway, a lot has been going on in the last 2 weeks. I bought a new computer – nothing special, just the current market standard. I did get a 19’’ TFT Monitor though, and it’s been much more enjoyable ‘playing’ on the computer. Now the only thing standing between me and a Pulitzer Prize is LOFT.

Even more importantly, I bought a new Kitchen machine – a Kenwood Chef (no, not the car audio company). Tres Cool. First thing I made with it was pancakes – recipe below. Yummy. Anyway, just in case you were struggling, trying to find a perfect Christmas present, I need all the accessories for the Chef 316 except for the meat grinder .

Sony recently delivered the most incredibly stupid action since… well, ever. Nervous that their customers would make illegal copies of music CDs, they installed a hidden program during the ‘Auto start’ program on the CD (You can only play these CDs on your computer with Sony’s CD Player Software, and it allows you to make 3 copies)

Not just the program, mind you, no, Sony also installs a so called RootKit – this is a program that hides files and processes on you system. RootKits are generally associated with Trojan Software – or Viruses, but this time it’s Sony. With asking or informing the customer if it’s ok – apparently some soft wording to this effect are in the End User License Agreement(EULA), and we all read those, right? Right.
One of the guys at System Internals (if you’re even slightly interested in Geek stuff, you really should visit this website) just happened to be working on his code to find RootKits, and much to his surprise, he had one. This is just an incredibly bonehead move by Sony. And it gets worse. Trying to remove the RootKit disables your CDROM drive. And it gets even worse. The RootKit from Sony doesn’t just hide its own code, no, it hides all files that start with $SYS$, and some Trojan authors have already written code to take advantage of it. Could it get any worse?? Yup. Apparently Sony has used some open source code in their program, and obviously failed to meet the requirements of using said code. Oops. How many Sony – EX-Sony employees are writing their résumés this weekend?

…and last but not least, it snowed yesterday in Vienna.

Pancakes
3 eggs, separated
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup skim milk
1 1/2 Tbl sugar
3/4 cup sour cream
dash of salt
1 c. plus 2 Tbl flour
3/4 cup melted butter
Mix the egg yolks, milk and sour cream together. Combine dry ingredients and gradually add to sour cream mixture, stirring until smooth. Stir in melted butter. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into flour mixture.
pour pancake mix (about a half cup at a time) onto a hot, lightly greased griddle. Turn pancakes when tops are covered with bubbles.

Nana’s Brown Bread(taken from the 1992 Maitland District School’s Fund raiser Cookbook)

I halved this recipe for my use – it would take me a year to eat that much bread – and had to reduce to water considerably, so you might have to add more flour than is called for …

1 cup Molasses
2 cups oatmeal
1/3 cup oil
1 Tbsp salt
4 cups boiling water
3 cups
3 Tbsp yeast
10 to 12 cups flour

put everything but the flour in a large bowl; let set for 10 minutes. Add flour. Knead. let raise 1 1/2 hours(don’t punch down). Form into loaves or rolls. Raise in pans 1 1/2 hours. Bake at 190-200 ° c for 25 minutes for rolls, 50 minutes for bread.

So I’m on my way home from work today, when I see a guy driving down a one-way street the wrong way… in his electric wheelchair – and I’m about as sympathetic as the next guy, but I couldn’t help but thinking, he probably wasn’t born disabled, ya know? just sayin’.
I’ve been away for a while, I know, been tending to a new computer, and a new kitchen machine… and work. I’ll be back soon with pictures – promise(and the best brown bread recipe ever).
