Mein HAMA Geräte ist heute gekommen, noch einmal – Amazon ist super.
Kurz zum Football Wochenende: Toni hat seinen Finger tatsächlich am Freitag wieder gebrochen, Harry hat sich beim aufwärmen verletzt, alle waren müde, manche haben durchgespielt – Offense und Verteidigung, und so weiter und sofort. Die Indians haben uns mit der super Organisation verwöhnt, hoffentlich werden die anderen Mannschaften ein Beispiel nehmen. Einsame Spitze.
Jetzt ist aber Urlaub angesagt. Wir fahren Freitag direkt von Villach nach Venedig, wir sollten dort gegen 03:00 ankommen, wenn nichts schief geht, was mir viel lieber ist als voll Stress mit dem Fähretermin Samstag in der früh wäre. Gestern war der letzte Planungstag, ich bin absolut todmüde, aber ich glaube ich habe – bis aufs Handy – alles was ich brauche… glaube ich zumindest…

Well it’s looking grim as far as e-mail blogging is concerned. 2 days to go and still no Treo cellular. If it shows up tomorrow I’ll try to get things set up, we’ll see. If it doesn’t maybe I’ll get a chance to blog from an internet café.
My HAMA came today, and I’ll say it again – Amazon is great.
Just a line or 2 about the football weekend – Toni did indeed manage to break his finger – again – in practise on Friday, Harry injured his leg warming up on Sunday, everybody was hot and tired, some of us had to play offence and defence all day, and so on and so forth. The Indians spoiled us to pieces with a terrific organisation, I hope the remaining league days are half as nice – really great job.
But now it’s time for vacation. We’re driving directly from the train station in Villach to Venice. That should get us there at about 3 AM, but I’d rather that than be in stress worrying about missing the ferry to Greece on Saturday. Last night was the last planning session, so I’m REALLY tired…I think I’ve got just about everything I need, except for the cellular.

First of all, an update to the Post Office story – I replied to Amazon’s mail and told them that the unit was on it’s way back to them, and asked if there was any way for them to get it back to Vienna by Thursday. It was a bold thing to ask, considering they had absolutely nothing to do with the screw-up, but I have had awesome service from Amazon in the past – I have been buying from Amazon since 1997, and in all that time, only once did I have a problem, and they sent a replacement immediately, no questions asked. So I figured I’d give it a shot. This is the answer they sent(translated):

Good day,

Thank you for your letter to Amazon.de.

We’re are very sorry that the package referred to in the subject line didn’t make it to you. I personally contacted Austrian Post again, and the package in indeed on it’s way back to us.

Normally we would wait until the delivery arrived here, then credit your account with the value of the goods, and ask the customer to place a new order. In your case we will make an exception.

You will receive a replacement delivery from us for the not-yet received goods. Our Logistic center will send the package as soon as possible to the same address.

I hope this solution meets your approval. Please take not that this is a special arrangement and should not be interpreted as a normal policy.

The bad news is, Wolfgang is on vacation, and from the looks of Toni’s hand yesterday in practice, his status is questionable. And Peter quit. and and and and and. And I don’t care, because in 6 days I’ll be on my way to Greece. And I’ve never been to Greece before. So there.

Zuerst ein Update zur Post Geschichte. Ich habe Amazon eine Antwort geschickt, und ihnen erzählt das der Speichereinheit schon unterwegs nach Deutschland ist, und gefragt ob es überhaupt möglich wäre, ihn mir bis Donnerstag noch einmal zu liefern. Es war schon ein Bisschen frech von mir, Amazon hat nämlich gar nichts mit dem Problem zu tun, aber sie habe immer in der Vergangenheit eine tolle Leistung angeboten – ich kauf bei Amazon seit 1997, und in den Jahren ist nur eine Lieferung verloren gegangen, und sie haben eine Ersatzlieferung sofort gemacht, ohne wenn und aber. Also ich dachte mir, ich versuche es.

Schon wieder hat die Österreichische Post neue Maßstäben für Inkompetenz und Idiotie gesetzt. Ich habe gestern ein E-Mail an Amazon geschickt, um mich über das HAMA Foto Speichergerät zu informieren. Sie haben sich mit der Post in Verbindung gesetzt, und die Post informierte, sie habe versucht, das Paket zuzustellen, und zwar am 08.08, und es war unzustellbar. Amazon war so freundlich, mir die Transportnummer zu geben, und mich zu informieren dass ein Paket 3 Montage gehalten würde, bevor es zurückgeschickt wird. Nun, ich war sehr froh, zeitlich eine Nachricht gesendet zu haben, weil dieses Gerät nicht nur für den Griechenland Urlaub unabdingbar ist, sondern auch 340 Euro kostet. Also wichtig halt. Amazon E-Mail ausdrucken, Reisepass mitnehmen, und auf die Post. Die Dame war freundlich genug mit der Transport Nummer mein Paket zu suchen, und hat mich auch informiert, dass mein Paket heute in der früh zurück geschickt wurde. Heute. Ein Montag nach dem angeblichen Lieferungsversuch. Und ich sage angeblich, weil ich KEINEN Benachrichtigungsschein bekommen habe. Nicht am 8. Juni, und sonst auch nicht. Die Post hat nie versucht, mir dieses Paket zuzustellen. Und jetzt ist es weg. Normalerweise bin ich ein Bisschen verzeihender was Fehlern betrifft – eben weil ich auch gelegentlich Mist baue. Aber nicht mit der Post, denn dies ist nicht das erste Mal. Oh nein. Bei weitem nicht. Mindestens sind es 3x jetzt wo ich doch einen gelben Schein im Postfach gefunden habe – kein Problem sagt ihr? – doch, denn an den Tagen war ich den ganzen Tag zuhause. Also der Postler war zu verdammt Faul um zu klingeln, geschweige dann mit dem Lift zu meiner Wohnung fahren. Und vor 3 Jahren, habe ich einen gelben Schein bekommen mitten in Jänner – Weihnachtsgeschenke von meiner Schwester. Ich habe gesehen dass das Lieferdatum auf dem Schein nachgebessert wurde, und war sofort skeptisch – richtig, Paket schon zurück geschickt. Ich bin auf die Post gegangen am nächsten Tag, aber der Schein war zurückgeändert, um 2 Wochen. Und es war nicht nur Betrug, nana, der Idiot war so bescheuert, er hat das Datum vom 1. Jänner auf dem Schein geschrieben. Offensichtlich hat ihm keiner gesagt, dass der 1.1. ein Feiertag ist.
Und jetzt haben die Trotteln mein Speichergerät zurück nach Deutschland geschickt. Ohne Entschuldigung, ohne Erklärung, einfach mit der üblichen hirnlosen Arroganz der Post.
Bitte liebe Leser, bitte, kämpft gegen eine weitere Schließung von Post Filialen in Österreich, im Namen der Menschheit, kämpft dagegen. Warum? Wo sonst werden solche Menschen arbeit finden?

Once again the Austrian Postal services has achieved new heights of incompetence and stupidity.
I started worrying about the status of my HAMA Photo storage device, and sent an email to Amazon yesterday –by the way, Amazon is absolutely wonderful Always has been, at lweast to me. Anyway, they answered today, and said they had been in contact with the Austrian postal services, and had been informed that an unsuccessful delivery attempt had been made on the 8th of June, and that the package would be held for three weeks before being sent back to Germany. I was relieved that I had sent the mail – and gotten the answer, because not only is the device really important for the Greece trip – it also costs 340 Euro. Important enough. Anyway, it was print the email, pack the passport, and off to the post office. The lady at the post office was kind enough to inform me that the package had been returned this morning. Today. One Monday after the supposed delivery attempt. And I say supposed, because there WAS NO attempt to delivery this package. Not on the 8th. Not ever. I received no postal slip informing me that I had a package to pick up. And now it’s gone. Normally I’m a bit more forgiving about things like this(at least after I cool down), mostly because I screw up occasionally too. But not with the Austrian Postal service, because this isn’t the first time they’ve screwed me around. Not even close. There have been at least 3 occasions where I have discovered a slip in my mailbox, informing me of an unsuccessful delivery attempt in recent history. Not a problem, you say? On each of these occasions, I was home the entire day. The postman was too lazy to even ring the apartment, much less take that strenuous elevator ride up to my apartment. 3 years ago, I discovered one of these yellow slips in my mailbox in the middle of January – a Christmas present from my sister – and noticed immediately that the date on the slip had been manipulated. Somewhat sceptically, I went to the post office, and sure enough, the package had already been sent back. I went to the post office the day after receiving the notice, but the date on the notice had been changed to a date 2 weeks before. This was not only a fraud, but a testament to the absolute brainless stupidity of the postman, because he had changed the date to the 1st of January. Only problem with that is, the mail doesn’t get delivered on the 1st of January.
And now these damn brainless twits have sent my storage device back, and I hate them. No apology, no excuse, just that usual blank-eyed brainless arrogance that so typifies the postal service here.
There have been quite a few Post office closures in the last few months in Austria – and I’m going to make it my business to fight against further closures. Why? Just think of the damage these drones could do in a real job.

The video camera has arrived, and that really is the important thing. Other than that, today I reserved a place on a train to Villach for the Quad. I’m not completely sure the Quad is going to be wide enough for the carry car, but the woman there seemed to think she had done that sort of thing before(although she kept referring to the quad as a ‘moped-car’ – not very reassuring). Next Friday we’ll find out I guess.
Something extremely weird happened today. I was speaking to customers of mine when I happened to look out their window at the view. The building is directly adjacent to the railroad tracks, and we were on the 7th floor. Down below, beside the railroad tracks, I saw a guy standing beside a bike. There’s really no reason for a cyclist to be there, the bike path is about 20 meters away from the tracks. So I looked again.

Me: Hey, you guys, is that guy down there naked?
Customers: nah, can’t be… but wait a minute… oh man, the idiot’s taking a leak on the tracks…
Me: um…I don’t think he’s taking a leak…

So there ya go. Some guy’s driving his bike, and just suddenly gets the irrepressible urge to get butt-naked and jerk off on the railroad tracks. There are some really weird people in this world. Anyway, everyone heard us laughing, and came over to the window to check it out for themselves. Somehow I don’t think it would have been nearly as erotic for the perv if he’d been able to hear the laughter – on the other hand, who knows….

Video Kamera ist aber schon angekommen, und sie ist am wichtigsten. Ich habe auch heute einen Autoreiseplatz für den Quad reserviert nach Villach. Ich bin mit nicht ganz sicher das er breite genug für den Zugwagon ist, aber die Dame dort war überzeugt, und dass sie schon vorher einen Quad aufgeladen hat – sie hat ihn aber ständig ‚Moped-Auto’ genannt, nicht sehr überzeugend. Nächsten Freitag werden wir’s herausfinden.
Oiso, heute ist etwas GANZ außergewöhnlich geschehen. Ich habe mit Kunden gesprochen, und habe zufällig durchs Fenster geschaut. Das Gebäude ist direkt neben den Zuggleisen, und wir waren im 7. Stock. Unter, neben dem Gleis, war ein Typ mit seinem Fahrrad. Es gibt eigentlich keinen Grund, warum ein Fahrradfahrer sich dort aufhalten sollte – der Radweg ist ca. 20 Meter davon entfernt. Also habe ich noch einmal geschaut…

Ich: He Jungs, ist der Kerl dort unten nackt??
Jungs: nö, kann nicht sein. Moment mal, der Trottel pinkelt auf das Gleis!
Ich: ähm.. Ich glaube nicht dass er pinkelt…

Und da hast es. Irgendein Kerl fährt sein Rad, wenn er urplötzlich von einem unbezähmbaren Drängen überführt wird, sich auszuziehen und auf dem Zuggleis onanieren. Es gibt echt komische Menschen in der Welt. Natürlich hat jeder uns lachen gehört, und sind rüber zu uns gekommen um zu sehen was los war. Ich glaube das ganze wäre halb so erotisch für ihn gewesen wenn er uns hören hätte könne, aber wer weißt das schon…

Ach ja, heute hat die grüne politische Realität Alexander Van der Bellen einen Besuch gestattet. Wenn man jahrelang eine politische Partei durch Persönlichkeit führt, und den Grundlagen der Partei wenig Aufmerksamkeit schenkt, verliert man leicht den Blick für das Wesentliche. In diesem Fall ist das Wesentliche eine eben so eindeutig wie inflexible Neigung nach Links der grünen Basis. Gespräch kann es aber nicht in dieser Partei geben, denn einerseits ist die Linke Seite der Partei nicht Kompromissbereit, was Abfangjäger und Studiengebühren betrifft, und gleichzeitig besteht die Partei aus Van der Bellen – und Van der Bellen allein was die Öffentlichkeit betrifft.. Ein Selbstgespräch sei gewiss weniger Wahlstimmen gewinnend.
Der Aussage von Van der Bellen macht aber alles klar:
Es sei nicht gut gewesen, sich auf Fragen einzulassen, “was sein kann”, ein öffentliches Spekulieren über hypothetische Fragen.
Auf gut Deutsch: Wenn meine Überzeugung mir Unterstützung kostet – egal von wem – muss ich nicht unbedingt überzeugt sein.
Als Wähler muss man auch nicht überzeugt sein, Herr Van der Bellen.

I went to a birthday party Saturday night in Grafendorf – in a castle no less, presided over by the Baron and Baroness – whom someone had neglected to tell that nobility wasn’t allowed in Austria anymore. I certainly wasn’t going to be the one to break the news, at least not as long as the jazz band kept playing and the beer kept coming. The castle was a lot like where I grew up – well, except for the castle part. Sometime around 22:00 I was abducted by aliens, and transported to their mother ship, where they performed their abominable alien experiments with home-made schnapps on my brain. Of course they erased my memory of the entire episode – but I had an enormous headache as a result of their clumsy forays into my skull. Anyway, that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it. Obviously, due to the Martian basketball game in my head, golf was out of the question on Sunday – I was really looking forward to playing in Stegersbach again, damn green bastards.

Less than two weeks ‘til the Greece-On-A-Quad launch! Yippee! Still no camera, still no telescopic lens, still no cellular with built in camera, still no email Blog entry test(can’t do it without the cellular)…still no reservation for the train trip to Villach… we’re pretty much on schedule.

Bad news from the football front(like we need bad news). Apparently Helmut got injured last weekend, and his start on the weekend is questionable. Personally, I think he’s faking. I also wish I’d thought of it first, ‘cuz we’re playing the 3 toughest teams in the league on Sunday.

Am Samstag habe ich eine Geburtstagsfeier in Grafendorf besucht, und zwar, im Schloss – Gastgeber waren der Baron und die Baronesse. Offensichtlich hat ihnen niemand erklärt dass die Adelstiteln in 1919 gesetzlich abgeschafft wurden, aber ich wollte nicht der erste sein. Zumindest nicht solang die Jazzmusik noch zu hören, und Bier noch zu trinken war. Der Schloss ähnelt mein Zuhause in Nova Scotia sehr, abgesehen vom Schloss selber natürlich…
Gegen 22:00 wurde ich von Außerirdischen entführt. Sie haben mich auf ihr Mutterschiff transportiert, wo sie unheimlich Experimente mit Hausschnapps durchgeführt haben. Natürlich haben sie meine Erinnerungen an das ganze vernichtet, aber der Beweis war der Kater am Sonntag, wegen ihre ungeschickten Bohrungen in meinem Schädel. Naja… das ist meine Geschichte, und ich bleibe dabei. Am Sonntag kann Golf leider nicht in Frage, wegen dem Basketballspiel im Kopf – und ich habe mich wirklich auf Stegersbach gefreut, scheiß grüne Bastarde.

Weniger als 2 Wochen bis zur Greece-On-A-Quad Reise! Juhu!!! Noch immer keine Kamera, kein Tele-Objektiv, kein Handy mit eingebauter Kamera, keine Zugreservierung nach Villach, kein Blog per Email Test(geht nicht ohne Kamera)… also sind wir so ziemlich im Plan.

Schlechte Nachrichten von der Flag-Dragons Mannschaft, anscheinend hat Helmut sich verletzt am letzten Spieltag, und sein Einsatz am kommenden Wochenende ist fraglich. Ich glaube der täuscht es nur vor, und wünsche mir ich hätte zuerst daran gedacht, wir spielen nämlich gegen dir drei stärkste Mannschaften am Sonntag…

Everyone else is writing something about the Apple move to Intel, so I’d better jump on the band wagon, and try to justify the Tech Stuff category.

Mac Users – Don’t Panic

As soon as the Mac fanatics calm down – and all Mac users are fanatics, by the way – they will realize that they didn’t love their Mac for that terrific PowerPC Processor. In fact, they had no clue whatsoever what a PowerPC processor was. That’s the thing about the average Mac user – they use a computer. It works for them, not the other way around. They love the operating system, and the software. I have good news for them: unless Apple artificially bumps the price on the Intel models, their favorite computer just got significantly cheaper.
I have even better news for them: unless Apple artificially throttles performance on the Intel models, their favorite computer just got significantly faster. Seriously. I know, I know, the monster ‘G’ models always came out crowing about their light speed performance, but what on earth were they comparing it to? I will admit right now – my only experience with a Macintosh was with a mini-Mac, but it was loaded with 2 GB of memory – and performed like a wounded sloth. I’m talking about starting a browser for heavens sake. It can only get better with Intel, trust me. And hey, if you were planning on buying a PowerPC model – go ahead. Apple isn’t going to eliminate the PowerPC stuff overnight – and by the time they do, you’ll already be on your second Intel model.

Apple – Don’t panic(don’t jump for joy yet though)

It’s about bloody time you woke up and smelled the x86 coffee Apple. All that time blaming your sluggish market performance on Gates of Borg might have given you some perverse sense of victimisation, but it didn’t help your bottom line. Read this sentence slowly(if you’re using a mini-Mac you probably have to) – YOUR COMPUTERS ARE TOO EXPENSIVE. Got that? I realize that cost probably isn’t behind your move to Intel, but keep it in mind, ok? People that didn’t buy a Macintosh because is was too expensive are almost certainly not going to buy your Intel version, unless you drop the price. And don’t expect the feeding frenzy that for some unknown reason accompanied your iPod release to show up the minute you start producing Intel models. In fact, expect horrendously sluggish sales for the next 2 years or so. I know I won’t be buying an Intel Mac on the first day of their release – but I guarantee you that a lot of folks will hold off on their next Mac purchase until they can buy the Intel model. Patience will be an expensive, but necessary virtue.

IBM – Panic

Gee, the PowerPC folks have gotta be whooping it up now huh? I’m not a shareholder, but I would hazard a guess that Apple is a pretty big chunk of IBM’s PowerPC chip market. And despite all reassurances to the contrary, I know, you know, and IBM knows that Apple is not going to be producing Intel and PowerPC side-by-side forever. It’s a simple business equation. You have to keep the Income/Development budget ratio pretty much constant, and you just cant keep up with the Joneses if you have to split the money between 2 research groups. Which means in a couple of years the PowerPC orders just simply stop.
Which means, less income to shift into the Power research crew at IBM. Which means.. well obviously IBM’s own Power products are going to suffer. And all because IBM treated this particular(fairly large) customer poorly. Which sounds pretty familiar to a lot of IBM customers in the last few years.
Does this mean the end of IBM’s AIX? Was AIX already doomed? Does anyone really care?.

Ich möchte nicht der letzte sein der über die Apple Entscheidung für Intel schreibt, und außerdem muss wohl endlich wieder meine ‚Tech Stuff’ Kategorie rechtfertigen

Wie ich es sehe, gibt es hier 3 betroffene Parteien:

Mac Anwender – keine Panik

Sobald die Mac Fanantiker sich beruhigt haben – und übrigens, alle Mac Benutzern sind Fanatikern – werden sie merken dass sie ihre Mac Maschinen nicht unbedingt wegen dem PowerPC Prozessor geliebt haben, eigentlich haben sie gar nicht gewusst, was ein PowerPC Prozessor ist. Das ist es aber, was ein Mac Benutzer ausmacht. Sie nutzen ihren Rechner. Sie arbeiten mit ihm. Sie lieben das Betriebssystem, und die Applikationen. Ich habe auch gute Nachrichten für sie. Falls Apple den Mac Preis nicht künstlich erhöht, ist soeben ihr beliebter Macintosh viel billiger geworden. Ich habe sogar bessere Nachrichten: Wenn Apple den Intel Prozessor nicht drosselt, ist er auch soeben viel schneller geworden. Ich weiß, ich weiß, die ‚G’ Modele waren immer wegen ihrer Leistung vermarkt, aber mein Gott, womit haben sie das verglichen? Ich gebe jetzt zu, meine einzige Erfahrung mit Macintosh war mit einem mini-Mac – mit 2 GB Hauptspeicher, aber die Leistung war die einem verletzten Faultier. Und das beim öffnen des Browsers. Es kann mit Intel nur besser werden, vertraut mir. Und übrigens, falls ihr daran gedacht habt, einen Mac in nächster Zeit zu kaufen, keine Sorge. Bis Apple die Unterstützung für PowerPC aufgibt, werdet ihr schon beim zweiten Intel Model sein.

Apple – keine Panik( aber freut euch noch nicht so sehr)

Na höchste Zeit Apple. Wäre ja Zeit dass ihr endlich aufwacht und den x86 Kaffee riecht.
Die ganze Zeit ‚Gates von Borg’ dem Schuld zu geben für ihre traurige Verkaufsleistung hat vielleicht irgendwie gut getan – wenn man wert darauf liegt, ein Opfer zu sein – aber der Buchhalter war nicht beeindruckt. Liest diesen Satz sehr langsam(wenn du einen mini-Mac verwendest, wirst das wahrscheinlich müssen) IHRE RECHNER SIND ZU TEUER. Alles klar? Ich weiß dass Kosten wahrscheinlich nicht die Hauptrolle bei eurer Entscheidung gespielt haben, aber denkt bitte daran, Ok? Die Leute, die wegen dem Preis den Macintosh nicht gekauft haben, werden das Intel Model auch nicht kaufen, wenn es so teuer bleibt.
Und erwartet dasselbe iPod Fressorgie nicht, wenn endlich die Intel Macs am Markt sind. Ich weiß ich werde nicht in der Schlange stehen, und viele Leute werden einfach auf das Intel Model warten, bevor sie einen Mac kaufen. Geduld wird teuer, aber notwendig.

IBM – Panik

Die PowerPC Leute werden bestimmt noch feiern, gell? Ich bin kein Aktienbesitzer, aber ich nehme stark an dass Apple ein ziemlich großer PowerPC Chip Kunden war. Und trotz allen beruhigenden Sprüche die das Gegenteil behaupten, wird Apple wohl nicht für immer und ewig auf beide Prozessor Schienen fahren. Es ist ganz einfach wirtschaftlich unerträglich.
Und das heißt, die IBM PowerPC Chip Bestellungen von Apple werden in ein paar Jahren verschwinden. Und das bedeutet wiederum, dass die IBM PowerPC Produkte auch leiden werden. Und das Ganze höchstwahrscheinlich weil IBM noch einen Kunden vernachlässigt hat.
Heißt das, Endstation für AIX? War AIX sowieso schon am Sterben? Ist es egal? Keine Ahnung.

Ok, bin schon wieder da!

Erstens, muss ich(ist ja Pflicht) etwas zum Sonntägigen Debakel schreiben. Im ersten Spiel, gegen die Vipers, waren wir in fast jeder Hinsicht die viel bessere Mannschaft – FAST. Hätten wir nur ein paar Bälle gefangen, wären wir siegreich gewesen, aber schon wieder war fangen offensichtlich nicht im Programm.
Im zweiten Spiel, gegen die Vikings(wenn du zurück schaust, wirst sehen dass ich eben kein Sieg vorausgesagt habe) haben die Vikes ihre Meisterschaftsform gezeigt. Sie haben hart, kämpferisch, und gescheit gespielt, und unsere Reaktion blieb bei meckern und jammern. Diese Strategie war äußerst unerfolgreich. Michi P. war Höhepunkt des Tages, und das in seinem ersten Dragons Einsatz!

Und das reicht zum Thema Football – ach ja, die Fotos von Tag 2 sind jetzt in der Footballgallery zu sehen. Robert hat wie üblich hervorragende Pix gemacht- danke Robert! – aber viel zu wenig!!!!!

Zweitens – es ist offizielle – Freitag WAR ein super Tag.

Also, verstehe ich das richtig? Unsere Bundesregierung ist eine Koalition zwischen ÖVP und.. FPÖ, oder BZÖ? Keine Ahnung. Aber… keine Demonstrationen auf die Strassen, keine große Aufregung in der Presse, und das obwohl die Partei von der die gewählten Regierungsmitglieder kommen gar nicht mehr so richtig existiert? Das kann aber wirklich nur einen Hintergrund haben. Keiner will Gusenbauer als Bundeskanzler haben. Nicht einmal die SPÖ.
Diese Situation zeigt die Dummheit beide große Parteien – die ÖVP könnte die Gelegenheit nutzen, das richtige tun, und eine Neuwahl rufen – sie werden nie bessere Chancen haben, eine absolute Mehrheit zu gewinnen, ich schätze sie liegt jetzt bei 50-50.
Die SPÖ könnte die Situation nutzen um endlich den Albatros von ihrem Hals zu entfernen, und einen neuen Parteiführer wählen – bei der nächsten Wahl wäre ein Gesamtsieg ja garantiert, egal wer der Nachfolger wäre(unsympathischer gibt es wohl kaum)
Und was tun unsere urgescheite gewählten Politikern? Genau. Gar nichts.

Griechenland Vorbereitung lauft auf alle Zylinder – Video Kamera, Smartkarte Festplatte, Handy mit Kamera, Schlafsäcke, usw. alles entweder bestellt oder schon in der Hand. Fähre von Kreta zurück zum Festland ist reserviert.

Noch offen ist die entscheiden wohin mit dem Video Blog – hier, oder eine separate Seite….

Ok, ok, I’m back!!
First of all, I have to write a few words about the debacle on Sunday. In our first game, against the Vipers, we were clearly the better team on the day. Had we been the better team on the day, AND caught the ball, we would have won easily. Catching the ball was obviously not part of our game plan though, and we lost.
In the second game, against the Vikings(if you look back, you’ll notice I didn’t predict a win against them), the Vikes showed up wearing their game face. They played hard, smart, physical football. Our response? Whining, moaning, and complaining to the refs. This strategy was remarkably unsuccessful. Michi P. was the highlight of the day, in his first tour of duty as a Dragon!
And that’s all I have to say about football – oh yeah, the pics from Day 2 are up in the Footballgallery. As usual, Robert took some terrific photos Thanks Robert!!! Next time take more!!!!

And, it’s official, Friday was an incredibly good day.

So, for the initiated English speakers out there, a little background: A few years back, Austria finally got sick and tired of the parochialism and lethargy in the government, and replaced it in a protest vote with a coalition of the People’s Party, and Freedom Party. The whole world got up in arms about the Freedom Party’s inclusion – calling them ‘far tight’. The truth is, they’re about as right wing as America’s Republicans. Well, not quite that far right. The leader of the FPOE, Jorg Haider, has somewhat of a reputation for saying pretty much whatever it is he thinks his audience at the moment wants to hear. Anyway, like any right wing party – or left wing, for that matter, the crazy’s tend to gravitate to the edges – the truly extreme right-wingers are part and parcel of the FPOE. They recently accomplished something of a coup, and forced Haider to leave his own party, and start a new one. New Name, new color, pretty much the same folks – minus the extremists.

So now there is some confusion as to whether this new Party can actually consider themselves elected, right? I mean, they were elected as FPOE, now they’re BZOE… hmmm. Any other time, the politically astute Austrian people would be up in arms, demanding a new election. But no… just lots of quiet. Why? Well, my guess is because of the alternative, Alfred Gusenbauer. A less attractive candidate for Chancellor would take a lot of searching, and the people here know it. The two major parties, on the other hand, have a great opportunity . The People’s party could call an election – which would be the only honorable thing to do – and have a great shot at winning a majority.
The Social Democrats have a great opportunity to change their leadership, and come out with new energy and take the next election handily. So what do out brilliant elected officials do? Exactly. Nothing.

The preparation for Greece is running full-speed – Video camera, Smart card Storage station, Cellular with built-in camera and email(for the Blog), sleeping bags, etc. are all either ordered or already here. The ferry from Crete to the mainland is booked.
I still don’t know for sure if the GreeceOnAQuad site will be the video Blog or here – Design work seems to be lagging…
Whichever… I am SO looking forward to the trip…
