Ok, time to harp a bit on Lotus(again)
It’s about tables. Still. Again.
IF you want to put subforms in tabbed tables, and IF you want to ‘null out’ the subform based on field value(s) in the form – i.e. setting the subform formula to “”, and therefore hiding the tab, THEN you have to place each of the subforms in it’s own table in each of the tabs. OTHERWISE you will hide the entire table by hiding one of it’s tabs. Clear as mud?
This is just one more example of the insanity known as tables in Lotus Notes.
On to other forms of insanity. An idiot by the name of Erich Kreipl sent me a spam mail today – actually two. This wouldn’t be worth mentioning except for the fact that dear mentally challenged Mr. Kreipl is obviously trying this for the first time. He sent the spam from his own address, from his own home computer, and didn’t hide any of the recipients names. I am sorely tempted… yes, I am. But I’m not going to do it, no. He is, however, the proud owner of a newly listed spam address in every blackhole and spam database I know of. I don’t know where he got his address list from.. but some of the names look familiar.. it’s certainly not a purchased list, which means he betrayed the implicit trust of about 300 people today by SENDING THEIR ADDRESS TO THE WORLD.
If you are one of those people who searches the internet for your own name, Erich, and you stumble upon this entry.. You are a jerk-off. You have no friends, and you can stick your AMAZINGLY PRICED CHILDREN’S BOOKS up your ass.

Should, by all logical reasoning, be the future of government software projects. I mean – why should the taxpayer pay for stuff that thousands…TENS of thousands of very good developers(and yes, I mean VERY good developers) will do for free?

O.K., wird mal wieder Zeit, Lotus zu beschimpfen. Es geht um Tabellen. Noch immer. Wieder. WENN du Teilmasken in Register Tabellen einsetzen möchtest und WENN du den Teilmasken Namen mittels Formel auf Null(„“) setzen willst – DANN, musst du jede Teilmaske in jedem Register in ihre eigene Tabelle setzen. SONST wird die Tabelle selbst verschwinden in dem Moment, wo du dem ersten Register versteckst. Alles Klar? Ein weiteres Beispiel der Geisteskrankheit, die wir in Lotus ‚Tabellen’ nennen.
Auf zu anderen Formen des Wahnsinns. Ein Idiot namens Erich Kreipl schickte mir eine Spam Nachricht heute – eigentlich zwei.
Wohl kein seltenes Ereignis, 2 Spammails an einem Tag zu bekommen, aber in diesem Fall, der lieber, geistlich herausgeforderter Herr Kreipl hat offensichtlich das Spammen zum ersten Mal versucht. Er sendete das Spam von seiner eigenen E-Mail Adresse, von seinem eigenen Rechner(mit echten, gültigen Headers) und versteckte die Empfänger Adressen nicht.
Ich werde es nicht tun…ich will…. aber nein. Er ist, aber, der stolze Besitzer einer neuerlichen registrierten Spam Adresse in jeder Blackhole/Spam Datenbank die ich kenne.
Ich weiß nicht, wo er die Adressen herhat, aber ich kenne ein paar davon, also sie ist keine gekaufte Liste, und das heißt, er hat soeben ca. 300 Menschen verraten in dem er ihre E-Mail Adressen durch die Welt geschickt hat. Wenn du eine jener Leute bist Erich, die das Internet nach ihren eigenen Namen sucht, und stolperst über diesen Eintrag…… DU BIST EIN VOLLKOFFER. Du hast keine Freunde und kannst deine ‘Super Kinderbuchaktion EINMALIGE Gelegenheit’ in deinen Arsch stecken.

Tja, und jetzt was positives – Diese Link wird hoffentlich immer öfter vorkommen in der Zukunft. Ich meine, warum sollten wir Steuerzahler für Software bezahlen, wenn es Tausende sehr, sehr gute Programmierer gibt, die es auch gratis tun werden –und höchstwahrscheinlich besser.

Well Linus Torwald seems to finally have gone completely rockstar on us. His announcement that he’s going to start using ‘git’ for the kernel repository seems to me to be an obvious ‘if SAMBA uses subversion, I’m not’ statement. The reasons even the subversion crew were giving seem a bit plastic now, given the fact that this new system seems to have sprung out of the dust in about 3 weeks. Wouldn’t this time have been better invested in a real system? For the unwashed among you, Linus is the creator of the Linux kernel. Seems he is quite intent on remaining the creator of the kernel, ‘cuz he’s the only person in the universe who could use ‘git’. Oh well.
Maria Sharapova turned 18 yesterday – it is now officially ok to drool.

Anscheinend hat Linus Torwald sich endlich in sich verliebt…Sein Bekanntgabe dass er ab sofort das ‘git’ System für sein Kernel Repository verwenden wird war mehr als a bissal komisch. Obwohl sogar die Subversion Leute selber gesagt haben dass ihr System für seine Zwecke nicht geeignet war – wenn er plötzlich ein System verwenden kann dass in 3 Wochen entstanden ist heißt es für mich ‘alles außer Subversion’ – natürlich nur Zufall dass SAMBA Subversion verwenden wird…
Für die Uninformierten, Linus ist der Entwickler des Linux Kernels – wird er wohl bleiben, wenn ‘git’ der einzige Zugang ist.

Normalerweise bin ich kein großer Fan von solchen Bildern, aber dieses ist einfach zu süß.
Ich habe einen guten Tipp heute gehört für Menschen die unter Powerpoint leiden müssen – Shift-W macht den Schirm weiß, Shift-B macht ihn schwarz – jeweils mit der Escape-Taste zurück zur Präsentation zu kehren.
In den anderen Nachrichten, Amerika hat heute kein neues Land angegriffen. Und eine sehr mutige Frau wurde zu Statistik in Irak.

Since the Notes 6.5.3 client showed up, the lag-time closing the client has been bad enough not to install the new client at my customers. Trying to login to sametime after logging out, getting a timeout in the process…all this while closing the client, just seems kinda inefficient .
This post solves the problem. Don’t ask me why, but it does. Good thing too, some of the fixes in 6.5.4 are absolutely critical. Soft-locking and Memo handling just to mention 2. Time to get a field test going…
on another note, just the coolest Notes.net toy showed up today. Gotta love itSeit dem der Notes 6.5.3 Client erschien, war die Wartezeit während des Client schließens unerträglich – so schlecht, dass es undenkbar gewesen wäre, den neuen Client beim Kunden zu installieren.. Ein mit einem Timeout resultierender Versuch, die Sametime Verbindung wiederherzustellen während des schließens, war wohl alles außer effizient . Dank diesem Eintrag ist das Problem gelöst. Keine Ahnung warum, aber was soll’s. Gut so, weil es auch einige sehr wichtige Fixes gibt in diesem Release, 2 davon sind Soft-locking, und Mail Schablone Änderungen…
Außerdem ist der coolste Notes.net Spielzeug heute aufgetaucht. einfach super!

This is the beginning of what is certain to be the most sporadic blog on the internet. I’ve been working pretty much exclusively with Lotus/Domino products the last few years, and it was just time to get back into the open-source thing.. so up goes a linux box for tests, and up goes a blog.
And that’s that.
I’m moderating any responses… the internet is full of weird people…hadn’t you heard?

Dies ist der Anfang einer Website, die ganz sicher nur sporadisch upgedated wird. Habe mich die letzten Jahre fast ausschließlich mit Lotus/Domino Produkten beschäftigt und dachte mir, es wäre Zeit, mal wieder die Open-source Welt anzuschauen. Also, Linux Server zu Testzwecken installiert und ab die Post mit einem Blog . So schaut’s aus. Ich werde die Antworten (falls es welche gibt) moderieren – es gibt doch Wahnsinnige im Internet gell…..
